A couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure to visit Susan Deliss’s Nothing Hill studio. Susan was another ‘Instagram discovery’ and I was looking forward to meeting her. Stepping into her lovely studio was like entering Aladdin’s Cave: old and new silk ikats, embroideries, kilims, velvets and linens…a feast for the eyes!
Deliss had always been passionate about textiles but it wasn’t until 5 years ago when she decided to set up her own company. Previously she used to work as a lawyer for an investment fund , and back then she would use any spare time on her trips (very often to the Middle East) to source fabrics for her ever growing collection.
She works with very skilled artisans that help her to translate her designs into reality. Susan’s attention to detail left me speechless: the colours, the texture, the pattern…she surely knows what she wants and the result of everything is simply impeccable.
Below I’m sharing some images of Susan’s home in rural France which was featured in House and Garden last summer. (Photography by Paul Massey)
